The continuing resolution runs out

The stopgap runs out today, with twelve appropriations bills and none of them enacted. The fight was postponed five weeks before the election and arrives five weeks after it.

Eight years ago today, in the Oval Office: "I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck. I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down." That one ran 35 days, cost $11 billion, and ended with the deal that had been on the table before it began. Same date. Different mantle.
