The Republican midterm convention opens in Dallas

Two nights; a $5,000 dividend promised if the party keeps both chambers

The party's first midterm convention, two nights at an arena in Dallas, which the party chairman had promised would be "a Trump-a-Palooza." A seat for a member of the House ran $25,000. County party packages ran $5,000 to $20,000.

The closer was a $5,000 dividend for every adult citizen, on the condition that Republicans win the House and the Senate, "both of them." Then: "I'm asking you to pretend that I'm on the ballot." He is not. The House is.
